Art is art (6.12.1999 - 2.27.2000)

To approach art today comes back to a drawing closer to the many places where art is created, discussed, shown, justified and sold. Indispensable complements of artists and works, these places do not constitute simple social spaces but create a system, in partnership with architecture, scenography, actors, the public, strategies and specific discourse. They co-exist in chapels, evolve into networks, and maintain complementary or rival relations.
The exhibition art is art places on certain among them an ethnographic glance which attempts to escape from a perception that is too limited and exclusive of the domain and of artistic phenomena. Museums, centers and galleries of art but also apartments, workshops, warehouses and sales outlets are thus associated without order or sequence to produce an effect of confrontation and disclosure which remains without a doubt the first vocation of museography.
