Le mal du voyage: Tourism-related practices and representations (26.01.2020–31.10.2021)

This exhibition aims to question the notional uniformity of tourism. A sample of twelve contrasted practices and representations are on display in as many thematic spaces: moral edification schemes, the cryptic signification of lazing on the beach, pursuit of mental and physical well-being, an urge to discover the outer world, local residents coping with the congestion crippling their hometowns, wildlife and nature captured into pictures and images, backpackers confessing their inclination for transgression, fascination for the newest wild frontier, devising novel forms of aesthetics and fits of post-holiday blues giving cause for planning future travels. Since tourism can come in different forms, it provides food for meaningful thought on how human condition and mobility translate in the first quarter of the twenty-first century.
